In a nod to the domestic pastime of needlepoint, I sewed a message on window screen with an iron rim as my embroidery hoop. The message: step carefully around women who are standing up for the right to control their own bodies.

To me the rocking chair is a woman’s chair. A broken seat on this family rocker made me think of the broken promise to let women control their bodies. I used the chair to create a piece protesting the 2022 overturn of Roe v Wade.
